USA Converse launches mudcloth shoe to assist Product RED

Sportswear Company Converse announces its partnership with Product RED, an economic initiative created by Bono (U2, singer and activist) and Bobby Shriver (Chairman of DATA - Debt, AIDS, Trade, cheap converse chuck taylor, Africa) designed to deliver sustainable flow of private sector money to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Converse, recognizing the urgency in the HIV/AIDS epidemic, is donating a percentage of sales of Converse RED product.

Every season, Converse and Product RED will collaborate with designers, artists, musicians and filmmakers to inspire originality by creating limited edition Converse RED shoes on a unique canvas that preserves culture and celebrates creativity.

"RED is masterful in its simplicity: the greatest brands in the world enlisted to help with the biggest global emergency of their times.

They are proud to be able to lend one of pop culture's most original and globally recognizable icons to assist in this critical endeavor," said Dave Maddocks,

At the cornerstone of this inaugural Converse RED Collection is the Chuck Taylor All Star mudcloth shoe designed with acclaimed UK designer Giles Deacon.

Converse was inspired by Nakunte Diarra, a renowned mudcloth artist and storyteller since the 1950's who originates from Mali, to fully understand the art, symbolism and technique of Bogolanfini, a mud-dyed cloth of the Bamana people of Mali.

Bogolanfini is a living art form, constantly changing, reflecting new inspirations, while paying homage to the past.

As well as the embroidered Mastermind logo on the heel, it is worth noting that it isn’t very often the Jack Purcell is seen in a high top form which may have been necessary to incorporate the zipper feature.

Hello Kitty Converse High Tops

Hello Kitty Converse High Tops

Since I was in high school, I’ve always enjoyed wearing Converse high tops. They were sort of my fashion statement while all the other students around me went for Nike or whatever other fashionable shoe was in at that moment. Of course, during that time they only had 2 colors – black and white. It wasn’t until I went to college that they started printing them in a variety of different colors and patterns. In fact, I still have a pair of both black and white Converse high tops.

There is nothing worse than when a product that you have loved for years sells out. I tolerated the different colors and even the different patterns until my wife came home with these:

That’s right. They actually make Hello Kitty Converse shoes these days. What’s worse, one star classic 74, every time I decide to wear my Converse high tops, my wife wants to wear her “matching pair” – something tells me I will never be wearing them again.

You know that Hello Kitty Hell has moved to an entirely new level when even the shoe style you grew up with has come out in a Hello Kitty model. I think I’ll go cry myself to sleep…
